Android Leaning Google App Updates

Introduction
Google has lined up a bevy of apps for improvisation. Its aim is to integrate these apps better and provide flawless user experience. The apps touched by Google's magic wand this time are:
  • YouTube
  • Google Maps
  • Google+
  • Google Play
  • Google Keep

Let us take a spin around the Google update world!

Updates Galore!
YouTube: Swipe left or right-video gets deleted. Swipe up or just tap-video maximizes or minimizes. YouTube watchers from mobile (Android, mind you) must be elated now.  They can now search for other videos while playing a current one. Just so that the current one doesn't disturb your search fetish, you can minimize the video to a thumbnail at the bottom of the display screen. The other videos proffered by Google probability algorithm appear in a film strip which you can swipe back and forth. The video quality may be bad in places but the audio is crisp and clear. It therefore is an exercise in practicality to build playlist of favorite videos. You can listen to the current video (rather audio) and search YouTube's vast treasury of videos, in different audio and video quality.
Manufacturers of Android based mobiles and Android app developers using YouTube should be able to benefit from this update.

Google Maps: remember Waze the real time navigation system that uses feedback from Waze users to update others travelling/wanting to travel in the same route? Now that Google has bought it, it's only imperative that Waze wades into Google maps. And, it has! So Android users can now get reports of say road blockage, slippery roads due to rain, accidents, closure due to construction, traffic jams and a lot more, when they use the Google maps. You can view the seamless integration between Waze and Google maps in that the search is provided by Google as well as the street view and high level images (read satellite images). Google obviously has made it available to Android users. The Android app development community dealing with Google maps in whatever form must find this interactive update useful. If course, this update will percolate to other mobile platforms as well, but later.

Google+: If Google+ hasn't managed to make you open it from your Android devices, well may these updates will. Google+ has taken a leaf out of its sibling-Gmail app, and introduced easy switching of pages or accounts. It gives a fillip to business context usage by enabling public sharing. You can now access Google Drive and host of location controls within Google + plus itself. But the flipside is that if you are a messenger user you need to move over to Hangout because messenger is no longer supported. To check out these updates (and if there anymore!) tap the Whats new tab of Google+ from your Android device.
Google Play Textbooks: Android users, especially of the academic community can now access a whole new category dedicated to jus them. Yes, it is called the Google Play Textbooks. One can purchase the book right off Google Play or can rent them for a period of six months. This update will be available across all Android and web platforms.

Google Keep: This is one reminder assistant that Android users can do with more enhancements. Google seems to have heard our prayers! For starters, Time and Location reminders have been tucked into the app. And using them is easy as you just need to tap the Remind me button, select either time or location and enter the details within them. You can now add photos to the note you are creating or even while editing existing notes. Sounds good!

Conclusion
Google has been on an adrenaline junket, we can see by the way it keeps pushing its offerings to provide more to the Android ecosystem. Updates like these are a welcome relief to users and for the Android app development field. Android app developers can certainly find more inspiration to develop or tweak apps that could take advantages of these updates. After all, Google will be tad happy if you can dip in to its products for the purpose of linking functions or looking up.
